Jianhui Li
About
Jianhui Li completed his MSc at the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences and Harbin Veterinary Research Institute (China). During this time, he used reverse genetics systems to rescue high-yield H1N1 influenza virus reassortants to be used as vaccine seeds. He also explored strategies employing RNA interference (RNAi) to combat influenza infection in cell culture. After his MSc, he worked as a technician at the Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center in Panzhihua (China) and as a lecturer at Xichang University (China). He joined the Smyth lab in 2023 to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying selective genome packaging of influenza. In his spare time, he enjoys music and outdoor walks.
